Ways of Giving Through Planned Giving
How You Can Help
Give a gift that will aid the future of the Province. By making a planned gift, our friends and benefactors are extending their commitment to helping the ministries and works of the Franciscan Friars, T.O.R. beyond their own lifetimes. They are ensuring the Franciscan T.O.R. Order’s mission to safeguard and uplift the people of God whom they serve also in your name so it will continue far into the future.
To assist you with the determination of a gift opportunity that meets your charitable, financial and estate tax objectives, the following chart offers an explanation of different gifts and how they can benefit you and our ministries around the world. Prior to making one of these gifts, you will want to consult with your attorney or financial advisor to ensure that your wishes will be carried out in accordance with the appropriate state and federal regulations.
We invite you to become a “Partner In Mission”, a very special group of people who are uniquely dedicated to helping the world’s most impoverished people. These individuals are our “Partners in Mission” and other donors who have made planned gifts. These gifts include naming the Franciscan Friars, T.O.R., St. Bernardine Monastery in a Will, trust, life insurance or retirement account as a beneficiary. It also includes people who make gifts of stocks, bonds or mutual funds. Planned giving methods help maximize the personal benefits of charitable giving and also allow individuals to make gifts they might not have thought possible. Many members of our “Partners in Mission” add value to their giving by taking advantage of tax laws that encourage philanthropy.
The Importance of Using Professional Counsel
We always encourage prospective donors to seek the advice of professional counsel concerning the best giving option for them. We would welcome the opportunity to provide you or your attorney with additional information on any of the methods of giving described here.
The information presented in this brochure is an overview based upon current tax laws; it does not purport to be definitive. We hope it will help you find the most mutually advantageous way to create and leave a legacy through your gift to the Franciscan Friars, T.O.R.
Saying “Thank You” – Sometimes people include a bequest for the Franciscan Friars, T.O.R. and we learn about it only after their death. We are so grateful to them, for they have helped to assure a brighter future for many, and we would have enjoyed expressing our gratitude while they were living. For us it is important to say “thank you” and, when possible, to do so in person.
If you decide to include the Franciscan Friars, T.O.R. in your planning, please let us know. We want to say “thank you” and to thank God for you.
